Pierre Tulowitzki, PhD, holds the Chair of Educational Management and School Improvement at the School of Education of the FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.
He has previously worked at the Ludwigsburg University of Education (Germany), at the University of Teacher Education Zug (Switzerland) and at Kiel University (Germany).
Pierre Tulowitzki serves as a member of the board of the International Congress of School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI). He is also the Link Convenor of the Educational Leadership Network of the European Educational Research Association (EERA). In addition, he is a member of the following associations:
- Swiss Society for Research in Education (SSRE/SGBF)
- German Educational Research Association (GERA/DGfE)
- American Educational Research Association (AERA)
Pierre’s areas of interest include matters of educational leadership and school improvement, educational change and digitization in education. Pierre’s work has taken him around the world. He regularly presents his research at conferences and often works directly with schools. He is a co-editor of the German-speaking journal for school improvement (journal für schulentwicklung). In addition, he serves as a member of the editorial advisory board for several international journals (for example the Journal of Educational Administration and the International Journal of Educational Management). In 2019, he was awarded the BELMAS Reflective Practitioner Award.
